CPG was formed by the alliance of Catalyst and the Competitive Performance Group, 2 consulting firms that have the same vision and passion for helping companies grow. Our principals, Tom Flynn and Kathy Smith, have a combined 40+ years of global experience in sales,marketing, strategic planning, alliances, acquisitions, and talent development.
We established CPG in 2003 with the sole focus on delivering results,not just providing our clients with a plan and hoping they succeed. We back up our philosophy by investing in our clients' success and believe in a shared risk model that strengthens our relationship with our clients and ensures we are all pulling in the same direction and accountable for results.

Tom has 20 years of experience in sales, marketing and business development. He helps his clients align and develop strategy, sales, and marketing initiatives to increase revenue and market penetration.
Tom has helped companies such as Telcordia, PSC, and Lexmark by providing strategy development, programs, tools, and training to boost their sales pipeline, shorten the sales cycle, and accelerate revenue growth.
Prior to co-founding Catalyst, Tom held a number of sales and marketing management positions with NCR Corporation. As vice president of Strategic Business Development, he spearheaded 4 acquisitions and 2 divestitures in 10 countries, generating over $425 million for his business unit. In addition, his team developed strategic alliances and exceeded a $320 million quota.
Tom began his career with NCR selling bank automation systems to the financial industry. He successfully carried a $5 million annual quota and won numerous sales awards.
Kathy has over 25 years of experience in marketing, sales, change management, business process improvement and training.
She is a motivational consultant and leader that helps her clients focus on vision and strategy as a foundation for growth. Kathy brings to her client engagements a fundamental understanding of some key challenges facing organizations: the drive for revenue, the value of differentiation, and the management struggle of continual employee and team development.
Prior to co-founding Competitive Performance Group, Kathy was the director of Sales, Support and Leadership Learning for NCR’s $2.5 Billion Customer Services Division. She began her career at NCR in 1979 and held numerous managerial assignments throughout the company including marketing, sales, organizational development and learning.
